Kolkata Octover 26,2025 , dmanewsdesk : A four-day International Exhibition-cum-Congress of the Mining, Metal and allied industries, being organised in Kolkata from October 30, 2025, is likely to deliberate in detail India’s bid to extract rare earth minerals from the recently acquired five lithium blocks in Argentina.
The aim is to focus more on establishing India as a global hub for mining and manufacturing, particularly in the critical minerals and electronics sectors.
The Exhibition, aimed at attracting investments to boost the growth of the mining and metal industry besides domestic manufacturing capabilities, assumes significance in view of the earlier assertion of Coal India chairman-cum-managing director PM Prasad in this regard.
While the move is in perfect tandem with the Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative to deflect the Chinese restrictions on export of rare earth metals, the presence of Union minister of Coal & Mines, Hon’ble Shri G. Kishan Reddy in the event, is likely to add significance to India’s scouting for alternative sources of rare earth minerals.
The prestigious biennial flagship event which will be spread over 1.1 Lac sqm in JW Marriott, ITC Sonar (Steel Conference & Exhibition), Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan & Science City Ground, is going to showcase – – the Asian Mining Congress (AMC), International Mining Exhibition (IME), International Steel & Metallurgy Exhibition (ISME) and International Steel Conference (ISC).
India’s steel demand, projected to grow at an impressive 8 to 9% in 2025, reflects a strong trajectory for the domestic steel industry. According to Shri Prasad, lithium and critical mineral blocks to be sourced from Argentina & Australia respectively, will play an important role in the production of clean energy.
There would be no shortage of coal, he said, for electricity generation as the domestic coal production is billed to clock 900 million tons in 2026 against 875 million tons at present.
Hence, IME & ISME 2025 are ideal platforms for projection of Mining, Equipment, Minerals & Metals, the latest technologies and their innovative applications of R & D and best practices.
AMC will feature a very high level Keynote papers, Country & Technical papers from the world over, bringing together over 600 delegates from about 25 countries, including policymakers, equipment manufacturers, practicing engineers and technology consultants besides academicians.
More than 600 Exhibitors, 100 Speakers, 25 Countries are expected to participate in the Congress and Exhibition. Country Pavilions by Australia, Russia Federation, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, China and a few other countries are likely to be put up, a spokesman on behalf of MGMI and TAFCON, the event organisers, said here today.
Robust participation from mineral-rich Indian states, PSUs, Corporates, SMEs and Innovators / Start-ups, etc. reflecting these Sun-shine sectors’ diverse ecosystem will also enrich the four-day event.
In the rapidly evolving Mining landscape, these Mining, Metal and Metallurgy events have assumed critical importance as they continue to provide a forum for industry leaders to exchange best practices, debate key issues, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
To give maximum opportunities to the participants for networking, opening doors to new contacts and fostering direct business interactions, a number of Networking Events are planned along with the exhibitions namely Buyer-Seller Meets, Rubber Conference, Innovators Session and Technology Sessions among others.
Leading mining equipment and machinery manufacturers will showcase their latest competitive products catering to the growing demand for modernized and mechanized mining solutions in India.
The event is expected to have many Country and state level delegations, and a footfall of at least 25000 visitors. The exhibition and the events are being supported by the Ministry of Coal, Mines, Steel, Government of India, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Coal India Ltd and such organisations as AUSTRADE, VDMA, RUSSIAN FEDERATION, IRMRI, INSDAG, AIAI among others.
