Indian Railways remove blankets from trains, cleanliness drive in progress

As a preventive measure to maintain cleanliness in trains and railway station areas, the Indian Railways has started a thorough cleanliness drive. The efforts are meant to provide safety to train passengers in India.

According to the news reports, train coaches are being sanitised with disinfectants to keep up the hygiene level, making travel safe for passengers. In view of the pandemic, East Coast Railway has directed to remove blankets in (AC) Tire I, II and III train coaches.

Reportedly, J P Mishra, PRO, East Coast Railway: East Coast Railway has asked the blankets in (AC) Tire I, II and III train coaches to be removed considering the pandemic Coronavirus. As a precautionary measure, train toilets will be cleaned at major railway stations.

As per a news reports, the East Central Railways has issued guidelines to the sanitation staff of major stations to disinfect the benches, washbasins, bathrooms, doorknobs, etc. In addition, railway staff is also conducting fogging of trains and the pit-lines to further ensure sanitation.

Moreover, toilets on trains will also be washed at major stations.

Piyush Goyal, railway minister, tweeted recently informing the railway passengers about the unprecedented safety measures being taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
