The faceoff between the government and opposition in the Parliament over Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Parliament is set to intensify today. On Monday, leaders of at least 18 opposition parties met at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and alleged that the BJP-led government was detroying the democracy. Among the parties that were represented at the meeting, which was followed by dinner, were the DMK, NCP, JD(U), BRS, CPI(M), CPI, AAP, MDMK, KC, TMC, RSP, RJD, NC, IUML, VCK, SP and JMM.

The verdict is also likely to be pronounced during the day.
08:30 AM: The Madras High Court is likely to pronounce today its verdict on pleas filed by ousted leaders of AIADMK against AIADMK general council meeting and general secretary election. So far, only Edappadi K Palaniswami has filed a nomination for the general secretary post, along with nearly 200 party members filing nominations in his name.
