Andaman & Nicobar reports one new COVID-19 case

Port Blair, November 5 dmanewsdesk: Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported one new COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours, pushing the coronavirus tally to 7,659, a health department official said on Friday.

The union territory had recorded zero COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, four cases on Tuesday, three on Monday and zero on Sunday, he said.

The archipelago now has 10 active COVID-19 cases and all the patients are in the South Andaman district of which the capital Port Blair is a part. The other two districts – North and Middle Andaman and Nicobar – are coronavirus free, he said.

A total of 7,520 patients have recovered from COVID-19 so far, the official said.

The COVID-19 death toll remained at 129 as no fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours, he said.

The administration has so far tested over 6 lakh samples for COVID-19 and the cumulative test positivity rate is 1.27 per cent.

A total of 4,97,671 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine so far, the official added.
