RU academic council approves PhD in yoga, education, Mass Comm

Ranchi December 12 dmanewsdes: In the Ranchi University (RU) academic council meeting on December 9, it was decided to grant permission to students of MA in Yogic Science to pursue PhD in other subjects like philosophy, Sanskrit, psychology, life science and sociology.

The council also decided to start a PhD in education and approved changes in the regulation as per requirement. The proposal to start a PhD in mass communication was also granted approval. The report submitted by the Covid-19 cell for successfully conducting the undergraduate and postgraduate level offline examinations was also approved by the council.

The council also granted permission to the syllabus approved by the Board of Studies for the varsity’s Department of LLM based on the CBCS- Choice Based Credit System pattern. Approval was also granted to the syllabus for Fine Arts under the Performing Arts Department.

RU’s Radio Khanchi was granted approval to start four add- on certificate courses which include radio jockey, sound producer, copy writer and radio manager. The postgraduate Yoga Department operated under RU will now be known as the School of Yoga. The change in name was approved in the academic council meeting. The council also approved the proposal to start certificate and diploma courses under vocational education in the various departments of RU and other colleges.

The proposal relating to granting permission to start postgraduate level courses in English, Botany and Nagpuri at SS Memorial College, Ranchi was also approved by the academic council. The proposal to start a postgraduate level course in geography at Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav College, Ranchi was also approved.

The academic council meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Ramesh Kumar Pandey. Also present were Pro VC Dr Kamini Kumar, Dr Jyoti Kumar Dean Science, Dr Satish Kumar Director ILS, Dr LK Kundan HOD Political Science, Dr Sanjay Kumar Day Department of Physics, Dr CSP Lugun HOD Maths, Dr GP Trivedi Dean Commerce, Dr UC Mehta Principal Marwari College, Dr PP Chhatophadaya Director National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology among others.
