An all new skywalk now connects New Delhi railway station to the metro station

Delhi now has a skywalk that is going to allow people to move between the New Delhi Railway Station, and the metro station. The all new skywalk is 242 metre long, and is situated on the Ajmeri Gate side of the railway station.

According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson, “The dedicated skywalk, constructed by the DMRC in collaboration with Northern Railway, for providing seamless connectivity between the Ajmeri Gate side and the adjacent New Delhi Metro stations on the Yellow Line and the Airport Express Line.”

The all new Skywalk is a foot over bridge connecting the Ajmeri Gate side of the railway station with the metro station nearby. It has been built to help with the traffic flow, and is a convenient way of travel for those who are wanting to take the metro to their homes, hotels, and other destinations.

Additionally, the Skywalk is also going to connect with the multi-level parking across the Bhavbhuti Marg. It has been built with escalators, and other facilities such as CCTV surveillance cameras.

Delhi Metro currently connects a large number of places across the city, as well as neighbouring Noida, and Gurgaon. It is the easiest mode of transportation in the Delhi NCR, and is a preferred way to travel for many arriving at the railway station.

According to a statement by the DMRC, “The structure had to be built above a functional underground metro station just three metres below, with major traffic movement on Bhavbhuti Marg. Also, the bridge had to be connected to two pre-existing building structures at the far ends ensuring minimum inconvenience to the people, infrastructure and other buildings nearby.”
