Madurai has been named after the word madhur, which stands for the divine sweetness pervading its surroundings due to the presence of several ancient shrines. The city is famous for its strong cultural roots as well as the temple of Meenakshi Amman, abundant flowers being sold on the streets, traditional jewellery and handloom sarees to name a few.
On the other hand, Kodaikanal is a famous hill stations of Tamil Nadu, famous for its granite cliffs, lakes, waterfalls, forested valleys and grassy hills. Located 2000 m above the sea level, Kodaikanal is pursued by avid travellers, cyclists and nature lovers.
Temple City with Paradise
Now, the IRCTC has prepared a special tour package, Temple City with Paradise, clubbing a trip to Madurai with Kodaikanal via train and road. The train (3AC Sleeper) would leave from Tirupati at 1 PM every Friday.
The tour package for Comfort(3AC) has been priced at INR 2346 for Single Occupancy; Double Occupancy costs INR 13198; Triple Occupancy costs INR 11054; Child (5-11 years) with bed INR 6518 and Child (5-11 years) without bed INR 4663.

Day 1 (Friday)
Train No.16779 departs from Tirupati Railway Station, TPTY-RMM Exp. at 1 PM. Overnight train journey.
Day 2 (Saturday)
Arrival at Madurai Railway Station at 3:50 AM. Tourists will visit Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple, Thiruparankundram swami Muruga Temple, Thirumalai Nayak Palace and Gandhi Museum. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 3 (Sunday)
Check-out from the hotel after breakfast and move towards Kodaikanal. Visit Coaker’s Walk & Pillar Rock and Green Valley View. The evening is free, to be spent in leisure, for the tourists. Overnight stay at hotel in Kodaikanal.
Day 4 (Monday)
Check-out from the hotel after breakfast. Visit the upper lake for exploring and boat rides. Also, one would visit the pine forest, Kurinji Andavar Murugan Temple and Bear Shola Falls. Leave for Kodai Road Railway Station to board Train No.16780 at 7:35 PM.

Arrival at Tirupati Railway Station at 10:15 AM.
