Cleartrip now offers end-to-end experiential travel in over 70 countries

New Delhi June 2 In a major development in the global travel domain of late, Cleartrip, India’s leading travel and leisure experiences platform, has expanded its international footprint by partnering with two of the world’s leading activities platforms, Klook and Musement. The associations enable Cleartrip to augment its current offerings with a whole new selection of engaging activities and experiences, curated from 48 European countries and 18 South East Asian countries.

Redefining how immersive travel experiences are found and booked by customers, the access to Klook’s and Musement’s content, will enable Cleartrip to deliver superlative international travel solutions across all touch points in the customer journey across a considerably wide geographic expanse.

In addition to facilitating access to the best international travel experiences for its domestic customers, the move further propels Cleartrip’s endeavors to promoting tourism in India by enabling travellers from Europe and Southeast Asia to book experiences through Cleartrip. Having added nearly 90 leisure destinations across 200 cities in India over the last quarter, Cleartrip is the only OTA in India focusing on activities and experiences on scale. Over the next few quarters, Cleartrip is buoyant and is targeting a 60 per centgrowth from its current scale of delivering close to 100,000 experiences a month to both Indian and international tourists through its partnership with Klook and Musement.

Despite this being the major driver, OTAs catering to this specific segment are rare. Cleartrip has differentiated itself from other players by building a strong portfolio of activities and experiences across India and Middle East. Encouraging consumption for activities by outbound customers travelling to MENA region where we already provide the experiences layer to our customers, backed by constant customer requests for experiences in other geographies boosts our confidence about the global demand for this evolved version of travel planning and booking.

Globally, spends by travellers on tours, activities, attractions and events, reached US$ 135 billion in 2016, accounting for 10 per cent of all global travel revenues. By 2020 the size of the activities and experiences market is estimated to be US$ 185 billion. A third of that would be the Asia market which is roughly between US$ 60-65 billion. While the market for experiences being at a nascent stage in India at present with online penetration in mid-single digits, Cleartrip’s Experiences segment continues to grow at 60 per centyear-on-year, presenting a massive growth opportunity for the company. India’s outbound tourism market will account for nearly 50 million travellers by 2020 and Cleartrip will be able to capitalise on this opportunity to engage with a much wider set of audience across all touch points in their booking journey.

Through its existing partners, Cleartrip also plans to launch a range of new activities for various Indian destinations on its platform. Some exciting experiences that Cleartrip customers will soon have access to include plantation dining in Coorg, beekeeping tours in Coorg, cycling tours in Delhi, harvesting crops in Kerala, dolphin spotting in Goa, Bagru traditional textile tinting, and kite flying and lunch with locals in Jaipur.
